Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre has invited AAFFM to join a community partnership in connection with the first production in its 2021-22 Coca-Cola Stage season.  Darlin’ Cory, by Atlanta playwright Philip DePoy, is a new country-folk musical about a young woman’s journey of self-discovery and family reckoning in a small Appalachian mountain town in the 1920s. The partnership will offer current AAFFM members complimentary (free) tickets to a special community performance Tuesday, September 14, 7:30 pm (subject to space availability), or discounted tickets to any other performance of the show.

This offer is limited to current AAFFM members, so you will need to become a member or renew your membership if it has lapsed.  We haven’t been sending renewal notices during the pandemic; if you’re unsure of your status, please contact Mark Reeve, our membership director, at mark@ml1945.com.  Your AAFFM membership dues provide important ongoing support to our organization.  Even though our monthly Fiddler’s Green concerts are still on pandemic hiatus, AAFFM must still pay music licensing fees to BMI and ASCAP for the series.  Your dues also support scholarships for talented young people with financial need to take music classes at the Frank Hamilton School.

To become an AAFFM member or to renew, go to www.aaffm.org and click on “Click Here to Support AAFFM.”  You’ll find the membership form and instructions for where to send the form and your check. (Note: For renewals the form is required only if there’s new information such as a membership level change, new email address, or change in volunteer interest.)

AAFFM members, new or renewed, will be offered a 20% discounts on a pair of tickets for the run of this show. And a limited number will be admitted free to the “community performance” September 14.  Please contact us at chrismoser@bellsouth.net to indicate your preference. If it’s for the community performance, we’ll honor your request on a first-come, first-served basis as long as AAFFM’s ticket allocation holds out.  More about the show is at https://alliancetheatre.org/production/2021-22/darlin-cory

Additionally, Alliance Theatre invites you to a free preview event with the show’s creative team on Tuesday, August 24, 7:00 pm in The Woodruff Arts Center’s Rich Theatre. “Behind the Musical” will feature a conversation about the collaborative process of creating the show and special performances from the show’s rehearsal studio.  Space is limited, so register soon.  Space is limited.  Click here to RSVP for the event.

All patrons for Alliance Theatre events will be required to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, as well as a matching photo ID, to enter the performance space. The theatre will also require the wearing of masks.  The Alliance Theatre is implementing enhanced COVID-19 protocols per local authorities for all events. Details published here.
