The Show's Performers -- Elise & Mary Witt
Sisters Elise & Mary Witt have been singing together since childhood. During the 1980s they were part of the well-loved Atlanta-based folk band the Small Family Orchestra which toured nationally and internationally and recorded five albums which have recently been compiled into a double CD. Since the Small Family Orchestra's dissolution in 1989, Elise has continued her career as a performing artist, vocal teacher, and workshop leader at festivals, universities, arts councils, and concert halls. This summer she toured Italy and Switzerland, and her band was featured as part of the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival. Elise has two new recordings which feature her fine band of Atlanta musicians. In 1990 Mary moved to Massachusetts where she sings and plays electric bass in two swing and R&B bands which she also manages and books. The O-Tones and the Propellers play for dances, weddings, parties, festivals and a variety of other events that compel people to dance. This Fiddler's Green concert provides a rare opportunity to hear the Witt Sisters together again. Their harmonies are sublime, the kind only created by siblings. Both sisters also have turned their hand to song writing and the evening will feature their original songs as well as an eclectic collection of their favorite songs, ranging in style from folk to funk, blues to ballads. Elise is also famous for tranforming an audience of perfect strangers (even the self professed "non-singers") into a heavenly chorus in a matter of minutes, so the audience can expect to join in the fun. So come on out to Fiddler's Green October 20th and enjoy a great show! Miki & Seegar Swanson
